Renovation and extension of a traditional two-up-two-down cottage into a modern family home.
CandO adapted this existing end terrace cottage by reworking space planning and adding an extension which enjoys big views to the rear. The practicalities of a cloaks area, utility room and compact but functional bathroom were incorporated into to the centre house where options for natural lighting were limited.
A sensitive approach was taken to the refurbishment of the existing cottage by upgrading the windows with double-glazed timber sash and case windows, and retaining existing exposed beams. Internal insulation was installed to greatly improve the comfort of the occupants.
A generous full width, highly insulated rear extension provides a warm, bright kitchen and dining space with polished concrete floor and views onto the terraced garden and copse beyond.
